3 THINGS TO KNOW WHEN GETTING WEGOVY® WITH MEDICARE:
1
TALK TO A DOCTOR
Once you and your doctor have decided that Wegovy® is right for you, your doctor will work with your pharmacist on the submission and approval process for the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program to fill your prescription. You do not need to enroll in the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program, but you must be on Medicare Part D to be eligible.
Call our NovoCare® Obesity & Bridge Support team at 888-809-3942 (Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM–8:00 PM ET).
2
TALK TO YOUR PHARMACIST
During the coverage approval process, there are several steps that will need to happen between the pharmacy and the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program before your prior authorization is officially approved. It's a good idea to stay in contact with your pharmacist during that time. If you’re approved, you’ll pay your $50 copay,* receive your Wegovy® pen or pill prescription, and be on your way.
Call our NovoCare® Obesity & Bridge Support team at 888-809-3942 (Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM–8:00 PM ET).
3
WORK WITH YOUR CARE TEAM
You'll continue to work closely with your doctor, their staff, and your pharmacy to get your prescription each month.
Your doctor will help you with any medical needs and dosing changes, and your pharmacy will communicate with your doctor's office to fulfill your prescription. Your doctor and pharmacist are there to answer any questions you may have about your medicine.

FAQs ABOUT THE MEDICARE GLP-1 BRIDGE PROGRAM
The Medicare GLP-1 Bridge is a temporary program starting July 1, 2026. It helps eligible Medicare Part D members access certain GLP-1 weight-loss medications, including Wegovy®. The program operates separately from regular Medicare Part D plans. Your doctor does not need to be enrolled in Medicare for you to be able to participate in this program.
To qualify for coverage of Wegovy® via the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program, Medicare Part D beneficiaries must meet certain medical criteria and be enrolled in a standalone prescription drug plan (PDP) or Medicare Advantage (MA) coordinated care plan (eg, HMO, HMOPOS, and Local and Regional PPO plans) that offers prescription drug coverage (MA-PD plans).
The Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program currently covers all doses of Wegovy®—both pen and pill—for $50 per month,* as well as some forms and doses of other GLP-1 weight-loss medications.
*Eligibility criteria will be determined by Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). This information is not a guarantee of coverage. Month defined as 1 box of 4 pens of Wegovy® and 1 bottle of 30 tablets of Wegovy®.
Your healthcare professional will determine if you meet the medical criteria. You must be prescribed the medicine to reduce excess body weight and maintain weight reduction with ongoing lifestyle modification, such as a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.
To medically qualify, you must be 18 or older and meet one of the following criteria:
Your body mass index (BMI) is 35 or higher
OR
Your BMI is 30 or higher and you have at least one of the following conditions:
OR
Your BMI is 27 or higher and you have a history of:
*Defined as systolic blood pressure above 140 mm Hg or diastolic blood pressure above 90 mm Hg, despite concurrent treatment with two blood pressure medicines.

No. The Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program works outside of Medicare Part D. Your Medicare drug plan does not review, approve, or pay for prescriptions covered through this program. You do not need to sign up or enroll for the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program.
If approved, you’ll pay $50 per month at your pharmacy when you fill your Wegovy® prescription.* The Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program covers the remaining cost of the medication.
The $50 per month copay will not count toward your Medicare Part D deductible or total out-of-pocket costs, since the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge is a separate program.
