The 64-week study included 307 adults with obesity (BMI ≥30 kg/m2) or adults with overweight (BMI ≥27 kg/m2) with at least one weight-related medical problem, including high blood pressure or high cholesterol. Adults with type 2 diabetes were excluded. Adults were randomly placed into 2 groups: 205 adults took Wegovy® pill once daily and 102 adults took a placebo (inactive) pill once daily. All participants were told to eat a reduced-calorie diet and increase their physical activity, starting with their first dose and continuing through the study. During the trial, 18% of adults in the Wegovy® group discontinued treatment compared with 26% of adults in the placebo group.
