Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation are some common side effects of Wegovy®. If you experience these side effects, talk with your healthcare professional. Ask them about general tips, such as eating more slowly, eating foods that contain water, and going outside for fresh air. The use of Wegovy® has been associated with gastrointestinal (GI) side effects, which are sometimes severe.* Wegovy® is not recommended in patients with severe gastroparesis. Nausea was the most frequently reported symptom. Nausea was generally transient. Most occurrences of nausea did not lead to permanent discontinuation of Wegovy®.
Not everyone will experience side effects in the same way. Many side effects can be managed, and different things work for different people, so the first step is to talk with your healthcare professional. They can help figure out what might work for you.
*In medical studies, gastrointestinal side effects were more common in people taking Wegovy® than in people taking placebo, and people taking Wegovy® were more likely to stop treatment because of these side effects.
