Keytsiia had tried everything to manage her weight—dieting, exercising, even working with a nutritionist. But that all changed when her health care professional recommended adding Wegovy® to her routine. Now, thanks to Wegovy® and WeGoTogether®, she’s on the path toward her goals, and she’s not stopping.*
Narrator: Keytsiia is a real patient taking Wegovy® and has been compensated by Novo Nordisk for her participation in this video. Individual results may vary.
Keytsiia: Growing up, food meant family, it meant comfort. Anytime there was food that just meant there was a party gonna happen, and it just was a part of our culture. I hit a breaking point living like that. Now, I'm doing something to lose weight. I'm increasing my physical activity, I'm managing my appetite, and I'm eating fewer calories. My goal is to keep making progress, and I just wanna keep going.
I was always a big kid. I always had the stigma of, oh, you know, you're not normal size. You're much bigger than the average kid your age. In middle school, I was already six feet tall and almost 200 pounds. I would eat whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted. If it tasted good, I would eat it. There was no restriction. It was a free for all. There was never, um, portion controls. I definitely gained a significant amount of weight during my first few years in college.
Going into my adult years, it snuck up on me. I didn't see myself gaining the weight. My top weight was at 400 pounds. It was kind of like a shock because I never figured I would ever get to that point. I would go on short walks and be so out of breath. My knees and back were constantly hurting from the weight. Something definitely had to give.
When I had gotten into the 400-pound weight, I also wanted to get back into motorcycle riding. I didn't want like this big, bulky bike. I wanted something slim and something quick and fast, and I really wanted a sports bike. And I knew at that point I had to do something. I couldn't just keep ignoring what was going on with my body.
I went in for a checkup with my doctor. She did a thorough workup and told me most of my challenges were due to my weight. I worked with the nutritionist. I was dieting and exercising, but all of that was not working for me. My body just wasn't responding and I was just stuck at 400 pounds and I was like, I'm gonna be this big forever. And I lost hope. So I went back to my doctor to talk about what the best plan of action would be, and we went through everything I tried. My doctor asked me, how do I feel about medication for weight loss? That's when she bought up the option of Wegovy®.
We went over the potential benefits and risks of treatment. She explained to me that this would be something I have to take with a lower calorie diet, increase physical activity. I was hesitant at first because I didn't like the idea of having to inject myself. After I did my own research, I became more comfortable with the idea. I went to my doctor and said, “Hey, um, I would like to give Wegovy® a chance.”
Narrator: Wegovy® is a prescription medicine used with reduced calorie diet and increased physical activity to help adults with obesity or overweight with weight-related medical problems, lose excess body weight and keep the weight off. Wegovy® should not be used with other semaglutide-containing products, other GLP-1 medicines or in children under 12 years of age.
Do not take Wegovy® if you have a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer, multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2, or if you are allergic to Wegovy®.
Keytsiia: When I started on Wegovy®, I had access to a support program called WeGoTogether®. I got assigned a wonderful health coach and I'm still in touch with her today. It was the coolest experience because not once throughout my struggles of trying to lose weight, did I have someone actually holding me accountable. Having someone there to listen to me really helped me see that I'm not in it alone.
With Wegovy®, I noticed that over time I wasn't eating as much with meals. One day we went out to eat and all of a sudden I was like, “man, I'm, I'm really full right now,” and I just really ate what I needed versus what I wanted. That was something I could never do before
Narrator: Stop taking Wegovy® and get medical help right away if you get a lump or swelling in your neck or an allergic reaction, serious side effects may happen, including pancreatitis. Stop taking Wegovy® and get medical help right away if you get severe stomach pain.
Keytsiia: I've been on Wegovy® since January 2023, and my goal is to just keep progressing.
Narrator: With Wegovy®, a lower calorie diet and more physical activity, I've been able to lose weight and keep it off. It was just mind blowing to see like the weight starting to drop and wow, this is actually, you know, making a difference. Everyone's experience with Wegovy® may be different, but this is my experience. I never thought I would get to a point where I can sit here and say I was once 400 pounds. There was a lot of work and a lot of effort that was put in to getting here, and I can't wait to see what else comes from it while I'm actively on Wegovy®.
Gallbladder or severe stomach problems may occur. Call your provider if you have symptoms such as stomach pain, fever, yellowing of the skin or eyes, or clay-colored stools. Tell your provider if you have type two diabetes and experience vision problems, if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant or are breastfeeding, if you have or have had depression, suicidal thoughts or mental health issues, or if you feel your heart racing while at rest.
In those with diabetes, taking Wegovy® with insulin or a sulfonylurea can increase the risk of low blood sugar. This can be a serious side effect. Talk to your provider about how to recognize and treat low blood sugar and check your blood sugar before starting and while taking Wegovy®.
Wegovy® may increase the chance of food or liquid getting into your lungs during surgery, or other procedures that use anesthesia or deep sleepiness. Tell all your healthcare providers that you are taking Wegovy® before you are scheduled to have surgery or other procedures.
Common side effects include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, stomach pain, headache, tiredness, upset stomach, dizziness, feeling bloated, belching, low blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes, gas, stomach flu, and heartburn. Talk to your doctor about any side effect that bothers you or does not go away.
Some side effects may lead to dehydration, which may worsen kidney problems. Drinking plenty of fluids may reduce your chances of dehydration.
Narrator: Terry is a real patient taking Wegovy® and has been compensated by Novo Nordisk for his participation in this video. Individual results may vary.
Terry: I didn't think my weight was that big of a problem at first. I tried not to think about it. But as time went on, I was eating more and exercising less. Before I knew it, I gained like 70 pounds over a stretch of about 10 years. But now I'm doing something about it. Right now, my weight is my number one priority. I'm motivated to keep going, and it's been so worth it.
For most of my adult life, I was very active, I was in good shape. I was at a really comfortable, about 215 pounds. I was playing basketball four to five times a week. Golf when it was summertime, you know, chasing my kids around, staying active, coaching their sports, and doing things with them. Starting in my late forties, uh, I became a lot less active, but I continued to eat the way I used to eat. Like six slices of pizza. You know, I could knock off a tray of nachos on a football Sunday. I put on a lot of weight. It all caught up to me. In my fifties, I was closing in on 300 pounds. When I looked at the scale and saw that number, I felt despair. I felt shame. I felt embarrassed. I, you know, but I also felt a little bit hopeless, like I've let it go too far and I have nothing I'm gonna be able to do about this.
When I was carrying all that weight, I was getting winded going up a flight of stairs. I mean, I didn't want to go and get the mail. Eventually I got to the point where I gave in and I had to, you know, go up two sizes in my shirts, three sizes in my pants. My doctor started expressing concerns about my excess weight and its impact on things like my blood pressure.
When I was at my heaviest, uh, I, I really tried to, um, avoid seeing people I hadn't seen in a long time. I could see it in their eyes that they're saying to themselves, what happened to this guy?
One night I was talking with my neighbor about my weight. He's a good friend. He asked me if I had ever heard about Wegovy® and I hadn't, but I was curious. I finally spoke to my primary care doctor and suggested Wegovy®, and he did a lot of research on it. He looked at my history and at my next appointment and he said, you know, I think Wegovy® might be right for you, and he agreed to put me on it.
We went over the potential benefits and the risks of treatment. We talked about how I would also need to stick to an exercise plan and a reduced calorie diet.
Narrator: Wegovy® is a prescription medicine used with reduced calorie diet and increased physical activity to help adults with obesity or overweight with weight-related medical problems, lose excess body weight and keep the weight off.
Wegovy® should not be used with other semaglutide-containing products, other GLP-1 medicines, or in children under 12 years of age.
Do not take Wegovy® if you have a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer. Multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type two, or if you are allergic to Wegovy®.
Terry: I started taking Wegovy® a little over two years ago to help me lose weight and keep it off.
Something that I've noticed is that I'm no longer hungry all the time. Well, I used to eat a lot of snacks in between meals and make a large late-night snacks. But changes in my appetite, I'm waiting until it's time for my next meal. My doctor told me I may experience common side effects like nausea, and we've discussed what to do if I experience any of those side effects.
Since starting Wegovy®, I've lost about 50 pounds over two years, and that's about 17% of my starting body weight. You know, when I started to take Wegovy®, I started a weight log and uh, over time, man, you could really see those results. And I used to take screenshots on my phone and send it to my kids and I'd get back a “whoop, whoop dad, go!” you know, kind of thing.
And it was just really motivating. Everyone's experience with Wegovy® may be different. This is just my experience.
Narrator: Stop taking Wegovy® and get medical help right away. If you get a lump or swelling in your neck or an allergic reaction, serious side effects may happen, including pancreatitis. Stop taking Wegovy® and get medical help right away if you get severe stomach pain.
Terry: I'd say I've been chipping away at my weight a little bit at a time. I actually appreciate that I'm making slow and steady progress with Wegovy®.
I love it when people see me today and they're like, “whoa, what happened to Terry?” Because now they're noticing the changes I've made with the work I've been putting in to manage my weight.
Taking Wegovy® is not like waving a magic wand. I've had to do my part. I've been more mindful about what I put in my body since I started, and I've made a point to be more active and I've made an effort to stick to a reduced calorie diet. When I see that I'm making progress, it feels good, like I'm moving in the right direction.
I want other people out there, especially people my age, to know that there's help. It's not easy taking that first step, and you shouldn't be embarrassed to ask for help. Talk to your health care professional and ask them if Wegovy® may be right for you.
Narrator: Gallbladder or severe stomach problems may occur. Call your provider if you have symptoms such as stomach pain, fever, yellowing of the skin or eyes, or clay-colored stools. Terry had been active all his life, but in his later years, he began to struggle with his weight. When a neighbor mentioned Wegovy®, Terry brought it up with his health care professional and together, they decided to give it a try. Today, Terry’s weight is his top priority and he’s motivated to keep going.*
Heath’s weight struggles began in college and followed him into fatherhood. He and his health care provider chose Wegovy®, and Heath’s early progress fueled his drive. Now, he’s hitting his goals and inspiring his 2 boys to eat well and stay active.*
Narrator: Heath is a real patient taking Wegovy® and has been compensated by Novo Nordisk for his participation in this video. Individual results may vary.
Heath: My name’s Heath. I’m married with two boys. We’re an active family. Every day there is something going on.
I was active in high school. I didn’t think about weight that much. When college came around, I was not as active and I would eat and drink whatever I wanted. I started gaining a lot of weight. I met my wife, Kelly. We’d come home from work, and it would generally be sitting at home, eating, watching TV—doing absolutely nothing. I was probably gaining about 5 pounds a month at that point. I would try to diet and exercise, but I couldn’t go anywhere. I might lose 5 pounds but then I would probably gain it back within the same month. I eventually hit 342 pounds. For me, 342 pounds felt like I had a boulder on me. Carrying that much weight, I couldn’t walk up stairs without losing my breath. I physically could not get down on the floor without struggling to get back up. I was nervous about how the weight was affecting my body overall. I was nervous about what it was going to do to me long term.
I took my family to a theme park, and one of the rides they were most excited about, we tried to get on. And I had to get off because I was too big to fit in the seat. And that hurt. When that happened to me, I got off the ride and stood off to the side, on the exit line, waiting for them to come back through and all I could do was just smile. It was the only thing I could do to keep it together.
My primary care physician and I were having multiple and ongoing conversations about how I can manage my weight. But we were not finding anything at the time that seemed like a good fit for me. About a year later, he brought up Wegovy® to help me lose weight and keep it off. It had just been approved by the FDA at the time, and he thought it could be a good option for me. My doctor said, I would need to take Wegovy® with a reduced calorie diet and increased physical activity. He let me know that it’s an injection, and wanted to know if that was something I’d be OK with. I was ready for it. I was excited to start treatment with Wegovy®.
Narrator: Wegovy® is a prescription medicine used with reduced calorie diet and increased physical activity to help adults with obesity, or overweight with weight-related medical problems, lose excess body weight and keep the weight off.
Wegovy® should not be used with other semaglutide-containing products, other GLP-1 medicines, or in children under 12 years of age.
Do not take Wegovy® if you have a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer, multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2, or if you are allergic to Wegovy®.
Heath: I began to notice a change in my appetite, and I was eating less. I remember I had this big bowl of spaghetti, and after about halfway through the bowl, I felt full. I didn’t want anymore. I had no want to keep going. I was very surprised, and I was shocked, but I was happy. I was smiling ear to ear cause all I could think is, ‘wow, I’m stopping, and I don’t necessarily need this food.’
I know everyone’s experience with Wegovy® is different, but I was so excited after I lost the first few pounds. It was great, it was such a good feeling. Losing those first few pounds was what motivated me to start moving, to start exercising. Eventually, I was carrying around less weight and I was keeping it off. And that helped me feel like I could do more. Wegovy® helps me control how much I eat. I control what I eat. If I want a bite of cake, I will still have a bite of cake. But I’m probably not going to eat half of the cake like I used to. Now I have control. I have control of how much of it I eat. If I’m at a restaurant and they’re serving the massive portions that they generally do, I have realized, ‘hey we can share a meal.’ Me and one of the boys can share this massive portion of pasta, or whatever we’re eating, and it’s worked out great.
Narrator: Stop taking Wegovy® and get medical help right away if you get a lump or swelling in your neck or an allergic reaction.
Serious side effects may happen, including pancreatitis. Stop taking Wegovy® and get medical help right away if you get severe stomach pains.
Heath: My wife and my kids—they’re why I’m staying on Wegovy®. They’re the reason that I want to do better each and every day. I do feel like I’m setting a good example for them now. They’re seeing me be much more active, and I’m eating less. I’m able to show them that there are tools out there to help you manage your weight and get you on the right track. For me, that tool is Wegovy® along with diet and exercise and working with my doctor. I’m confident that I can lose weight, keep it off, and continue on.

Narrator: Lisa is a patient ambassador for Novo Nordisk and has been compensated for her participation in this video. Individual results may vary.
Lisa: All my life, my health care providers told me I needed to lose weight. They all advised the same thing: diet and exercise. I continued to diet and lose weight and gain it back. It started, you know, with false hope. Like, “Oh, this time it’s going to be different. This time, I’m gonna do it.”
I love to cook. I found that it came naturally to me, and I took my first cooking lesson when I was probably 11 years old. As I grew older, I just continued to enjoy cooking. And I went to cooking school. Just really found that was my way of showing love for people.
In the past, I would bake these wonderful treats that I was really proud of, and I would take them in to coworkers, or share them with friends, because I knew that I would eat the whole thing if I kept it for myself.
I would never feel full. I was always hungry. I thought about eating food all the time. I thought about how much I was eating. It was as if there was nothing stopping me.
Over time, I started noticing that my weight was beginning to affect my overall health. I became breathless going up a flight of stairs and just my daily activities were becoming more difficult due to my weight. I started to get really self-conscious. I wondered if my son’s friends thought of him as the kid with the big mom.
I would go in for my physicals, and the health care provider would, after weighing me, point to the chart and show me my BMI, which was always in the obesity column. It got to a point where everything was stacking up—that it was time to do something about my weight.
I spoke to my health care provider, who suggested Wegovy® to help me lose weight and keep it off. My health care provider and I talked about the risks and benefits of Wegovy®. We worked together to make a plan, and decided that Wegovy® would be a good option for me.
I learned that I would give myself a Wegovy® injection once a week in combination with a reduced-calorie meal plan and increased physical activity.
So, once I started Wegovy®, I noticed a change in my appetite. I was able to stop when I was full. I wasn’t thinking about eating food all the time, and I started leaving food on my plate during meals. I realized that my weight was something I could finally manage. It was like something finally clicked for me.
Since starting Wegovy® 20 months ago, I lost 26 pounds, which is about 11 percent of my starting body weight.
Since losing the weight and keeping it off, I am active. What I want people to realize about obesity is that it’s not a lack of willpower. It’s a chronic disease. After years of being told it was my lack of willpower, I finally found a health care provider who listened to me, and supported me, and believed in me. My experience with Wegovy® made me realize, there is help for people like me.
Ask your health care provider what would work best for you. I’m continuing to take Wegovy®, and it’s working for me.
