Pay attention to how you’re feeling and talk with your health care professional about any side effect that does not go away or bothers you.
The use of Wegovy® has been associated with gastrointestinal (GI) side effects, which are sometimes severe.* Wegovy® is not recommended in patients with severe gastroparesis. Nausea was the most frequently reported symptom. Nausea was generally mild or moderate and transient. Most occurrences of nausea did not lead to permanent discontinuation of Wegovy®.
*In medical studies, gastrointestinal side effects were more common in people taking Wegovy® than in people taking placebo, and people taking Wegovy® were more likely to stop treatment because of these side effects.
Let your care team know about any side effect that bothers you or does not go away. Everyone is different, so they can help you determine the best course of action. If you experience nausea, talk with your health care professional and they will offer guidance, which may include some of these general tips.
Eat bland, low-fat foods, like crackers, toast, and rice
Go outdoors for fresh air
Eat foods that contain water, like soups and gelatin
Eat more slowly
Avoid lying down after you eat
Avoid greasy foods
Discuss all possible side effects of Wegovy® with your health care professional.
